hi, i got the aircon on my vectra cdx re-gassed today as it had got abit useless at getting very cold in the previous warmer months and wanted it working good for demisting in the winter, the chap that did it gave me the print out from the re-gas machine and it read that it had only removed 00.140kg of gas from the system bearing in mind the system is meant to have 00.750kg in it so it was defo low and also it only recovered 0002ml of oil out the system. further down the slip it says the system oil quantity is 295ml. anyway the re-gas went fine and id say its working 100% now, icy cold, no grumble noises from the pump anymore, the slip reads it charged the system with 00.750kg of gas which is the correct ammount and charged with 0037ml of oil. now my question is why did it only put 0037ml of oil back in the system when on the slip it says oil quantity 295ml? just wondering if anyone can answer this question !! the chap also put a uv dye in aswell and checked for leaks, there was none, as well as the machine doing a vacuum check itself.

Query it with the chap that did the A/C. The drain should take out all the oil as well as the gas. So if your system takes 295ml then that's what it should have.

also in future make sure you use the a/c even in winter (you can use it on the higher temp settings)

Usually for demisting your wind screen.

well at the bottom of the slip where it says oil quantity 295 ml, below that it gives a list -

condenser approx 30ml
front evaporator approx 50ml
rear evaporator approx 50ml
receiver drier approx 15ml
hp hose approx 10ml
lp hose approx 10ml
rapid discharge 50ml
draining of refrigerant - quantity drained + 10ml
compressor - if not flushing, approx 50% of total lubricant qty.

doesnt make much sense

Actually, I don't think the oil would have been drained when vac'ing out the system. The refrigerant would have boiled off in the vacuum and been extracted. The oil, provided that it's stable in a vacuum at room temperature, would have just sat in the system, so no need to replace it when refilling with refrigerant.

Interesting Kev. We are doing A/C at the moment and there's two bottles... one for old and for new oil (plus obviously also old/new refigerent). I was under the impression it all came out from what the teachers were saying..... will recheck though

Maybe. I'm no expert. Be interesting to know for sure.
