I moved out of Boston, Lincs a couple of years back thank god, I'm only 10 miles away in Donington, but have a lot of family there. They evacuated people into the local sports arena. They are now evacuating said sports arena as it is on a flood plain!!!!  Good to know the years of planning have not been in vain!!!

A mate that I used to work with has a house about 200 yds from the main river witham. He spent all day putting everything upstairs and his house now sits in 2 feet of water.

It's amazing to think that the river witham is usually  at least 20 foot below the  bank even at high tide.

Had some on our local News, fish quay side well flooded, and area I know quite well, so can only assume the other side where all the older shops are is equally flooded, though it does go uphill - never seen anything like that in Whitby before..... :o :o

We were relatively lucky... Water was just under 3' deep on the quay but the flood gates held, albeit with a (relatively) small amount of seepage.

Unfortunately my Sister in Law decided to "park" their "new" Merc in some floodwater ::) Not looking good, although it's been taken to a reliable garage instead of the fitters who went "it's oppsed and full of water" ::) It wasn't that deep when she drove through... Wasn't even over the sills ;)
