Hi all

I have a problem with my key fob. Only got one key with the car which has always been a bit of a worry. A few months ago the fob stopped working. A new battery didn't fix the problem so am assuming the internal electronics are kaput. I am still able to drive the car. The car will lock with key in the doorlock but on opening the alarm goes off which can then be turned off by turning the ignition on.
I would like to get back to 2 keys with remote opening/closing and alarming (factory fitted).
What is the cheapest way of achieving this? I cannot send the key through the post as I need it to drive the car

Either just send the fob bit through the post (but dont lose the transponder chip whilst no fob is present), or if handy with a soldering iron, rebuild the battery holder connection, which is used as a mechanical fixing point to PCB, as well as electrical, and does frequently break.
