I can see some real benefit for getting aid in to distaster zones but I am not convinced it is commercially viable for moving cargo

I seem to recall being in a sailing boat heeled over at 40 degrees and fighting the waves trying to knock us off course.  But yes, it was them sea monsters not the wind

So in line with doing the same from heavy lift vessels .....no problem there then 

In fact on some drill rigs, if a genset goes then its a tow it to port job and at 700K dollars per day, its bloody expensive to do.

Don't they use self propelled platforms for that, which drop jacks to the sea bed, thus providing a stable working platform in most conditions

Or the man sent on site to fix one.....as you have the owners, the operators, the red neck crew, the captain and your employers questioning and chasing you every second your working!
