Anyone work in HR?
« on: 02 April 2014, 20:41:47 »

Since 2010 I have been working as a self employed subcontractor in plumbing (was employed prior to that). Since then, I have had quite a few jobs - some as long as a year and a half and others 2.5 weeks. So my CV isn't as attractive as it should be and its also quite long winded at the moment as I am listing what I have been doing for the past 3.5 years. I know it's probably not a good idea but the alternative was to leave gaps which I didn't want.

I am now looking for work again and would appreciate some guidance. What is the best way to approach this period and what clichés to avoid?

Thanks

I find constantly calling them "Personnel" normally rubs them up the wrong way.

Still, the oppsers have screwed me over today, so opps'em, every time I need to visit a site now, they can pay for a hire car. And shove their 28p per mile up there jacksie  >:(

I think we're now in a world of Huddles and Scrums now.

I have been back at work foe 2 days now, and done absolutely nothing productive, due to (supposedly) higher priority assorted wank. I'm paid to fix shit, or build new shit, not spend 2 days talking about it

I know, a bloody disgrace, doesn't even cover my costs, even on LPG. I used to get 45p, but its not something covered by TUPE.

When you have gaps in your CV I find it is best to use the heading 'Relevant Experience' and if they ask just blag what you were doing was not relevant and thus not appropriate to put in (Sofa durability testing expert, bed tester, recruitment consultant, etc) :y
