Hi DavidF,
normally we post that sort of enquiry in 'Omega General Help'. Sorry I did not respond earlier.
Changing crank sensors on 2.0 and 2.2 Omegas is tricky. Phil Rich says he can do it withou removing the n/s engine mounting, but I failed to do so.
I have changed several (I run three 4 cylinder Omegas for wife and two sons). I did it as follows.
1. Remove n/s engine mounting - Jack up n/s of engine with block of wood to spread load on sump, undo nuts attaching engine mounting to brackets, raise engine to allow removal of engine mounting; then unbolt engine mounting bracket form engine and remove that. I used a screw jack for this job. It is secure, though I also place an axle stand unde the wood block.
2. Remove dip stick and tube. Just remove dip stick, then remove screw holding tube to bracket, wiggle and pull tube and it comes out upwards.
3. Trace upper end of crank sensor cable, it's high and at the front of the engine. Unplug it and tie some string to it.
4. Locate the crank sensor. You can see it from above to the right of the dip stick tube hole. I recommend placing a large bolt in the dip stick hole, so that the head stops it falling in, to prevent other things falling in. You can see the crank sensor now, and its torx heard screw. With a torx female socket and long wobbly bars you can undo and remove the screw. You can now grope and grip the sensor and pull it out of the block.
5. Now you can pull the sensorto the rear of the car, then pull it upwards, dragging cable and string behind it. You will have fun manoeuvring the plug down under and behind the compressor. Then you have removed the old crank sensor and have the string in place to haul up the lead and plug of the new one. Have a cup of coffee and a biscuit.
6. Now tie the connector of the new sensor to your string and pull it beneath the compressor, wiggle it past the brackets and up towards the other connector. By feel you can insert the new sensor in the hole. Now all you have to do is insert the screw.
7. Phil Rich says he can do it from above, with the same torx socket and wobbly bars. I failed to do so. If you can do it, then you did not need to remove the engine mounting! To be fair, everything so far I have done with the enging mounting left in place. It's probably worth your while trying to do likewise. If you now fail to get the screw in, you will have to remove the engine mounting to get it in. You could be lucky, or more skilled than me.
Good luck. If you wnat any more help, I should do it in general help. Others may find it helpful. Or if I'm giving bad advice they will say so. I will post this in general help anyway. I do not often check my messages, but I read general help daily.
If pics would help I have some somewhere.
