I was planning to buy the conversion on payday (25th) but to be honest, I'm tempted to stick it on the credit card until then - do you think there'll be a shortage of kits?

Yes i think their is going to be what with the fuel costs and the strike petrol is becomin difficult to get in some places.

just do it james you know you want to!

Took the other half's LPG Vectra (2.0 16v) to London / Portsmouth and back the other day and did a LPG Brim to Brim at my Local Shell Garage (52.9p).

230 miles round trip cost me £18.40 (35 Litres), and I wasn't hanging about if you get my drift.

So that works out to 8p a mile at 30 MPG on LPG.

If you sort of work it backwards on doing the trip with Petrol at the same cost at current Petrol prices, its the same as doing 64 MPG, Pound for Pound.

So yes its a lot cheaper, still thinking about getting My 3.0 MV6 done, but how much longer before the UK Goverment start messing around with LPG prices?

AS i was saying to james the other day. lpg will go up. but i beleive it will be proportional to the rise in fuel costs. so you will always make a profit.

its not a case of if its a case of when!

I'm still waiting on a Vapouriser. I'd at least give him a call and get yourself "in the queue". :y

Hi Guys

Because I'm so busy at work, I just got the calculator out and worked out, in realistic terms, how much cheaper it is to run on LPG, with todays prices.

The proof is in the pudding...

With an MPG of 26 and petrol at 117.9 per litre, cost of driving is 20.6p per mile

With an MPG of 20 and gas at 54.9p per litre,    cost of driving is 12.5p per mile

500 miles on petrol at 26mpg costs £103.15
500 miles on gas at 20mpg  costs £62.45

Driving on gas is therefore 8.1p per mile cheaper, and over the course of every 500 miles you would save £40.50.

For someone who does 500 miles a week, this works out at an average saving of £182.25 per month.

Going on the above statistics, running on LPG will save you on average £2187 per year.

Therefore if you keep your car for 5 years, you will save in total £10,935.

For someone buying a DIY kit from Jeremy at a cost of £700, you would need to cover 8642 miles in order to break even on the cost of the conversion.

Needless to say - I am ordering my kit for the Estate next week!!

buy my elite for £2600, rip the kit out and stick it in yours then repair the manifold and sell the car
