2.2 Petrol removing front Lambda Sensor
« on: 18 June 2014, 13:52:29 »

Is there any advise here? I can get suitable tool on, but there does not seem to be any space to actually turn them? Does the down pipe have to come off?

Many thanks

Steve :D

I have just changed mine. Best attack is from above, not below. You need a special lambda sensor spanner. I have three, all have a slot to allow passage over the cable, and a 3/8 square drive hole. Sensor can be tight, you may need to heat the boss to release the thread.

A word of warning. When I first changed one I groped around behind the engine to unplug the cable and got my left hand trapped. Before you start it's worth unplugging the coil pack plug at the top back of the head to give your left hand a way out.

I've done them with an adjustable and a light tap from a hammer on the handle ( Including the very one you are fitting :) ) , I find they aren't usually that tightly done up. Maybe removing the breather tube may give more room

Thank you both - it is done, small AJ and a not so small hammer. A few taps and its was out  :y

Now just to see if it makes any difference!
