XP question- user/password(s)
« on: 11 August 2014, 11:27:59 »

I have a secondhand laptop which I want to use to download programmes via BBC iPlayer in our unlimited nightime Internet.

Process is easy enough (I already do it via a Vista desktop). You set up a task in task scheduler.

On the laptop that requires a password. Previous user can't remember any of his passwords.

Question is is there a way of changing the XP so nothing is password protected? I have my own copy of XP Pro but ideally want to stop short of a clean install. Of course that would be a better thing to do.

Don't know but does on Vista.

I have a UK Ip Address so don't have to use a VPN or DNS frig unlike most expats!

Yup the admin backdoor (oo-err missus) on XP is a well known one.  Only problem might be if he disabled it either deliberately or accidentally.

There are other ways of getting in but try this one first as it's the easiest :y
