Just checked the 2 I have and they are reading:

17.8 ohms for 1  :y   other is 21.9 ohms. :'(...so on that basis I have atleast 1 good one working within reading tolerances.

Now as they are both identical/interchangeable I can remove the 2/3 change solenoid from my gearbox and fit a good working one in its place ;D

Be interesting to see what the readings are from the 2 in the box.

When its described as a "sticking solenoid" would that mean grit/dirt or something causing it to not work correctly or would it be down to a highre or lower ohm reading .

Anybody able to confirm what likely to be causing 1 solenoid to "stick" ?

Can they get small particles of dirt inside them then as look pretty sealed to me .

Depends what the "normal" failure mode is, TBH.

I can imagine that if the fluid has been allowed to get dirty there might be the possibility of them getting jammed with crud. Then again, the fluid supply to them is well filtered.

On the other hand, maybe it's an electrical issue. Without analysing a few failures it's impossible to tell.

Maybe the difference in resistance is significant, maybe it's just the normal spread you'd expect? Maybe the different part numbers have slightly different resistances?

Given that you've got a couple of spares, I'd be inclined to swap that solenoid anyway and see if it makes a difference. Any difference at all is an indication that we're on the right track.

I have just come across this thread and it seems to cover exactly the problem I am experiencing.
Is it difficult to change the 2-3 solenoid and is it the same item in a V6 facelift box as in a TD facelift box?
