Carlton and/or Omega seats...
« on: 25 September 2014, 15:16:30 »

VERY obscure question, not specifically a 'help request'... Are Carlton/Senny/CavIII/AstraII seat belt bolts the same thread as Omega/VectraB/AstraIV?

I have found that Carlton are 7/16 X 16 . They're a different part number, but that doesn't mean theyre not interchangeable, of course.

Used to be that all seat belts had to conform to a BS statute. All bolts would have the same thread size, some longer than others. Dont konw if this is still the case with all the EU conformaty nowdays. If it is the same, could be that the differant part numbers may be differant head size and length

Ah yes, the great days of imperial sizes :D

All the bolts I have encountered on the Omega have been metric ;)

Yeah, I have to say I was a little surprised to see imperial sizings there  - I mean I know the Carlton's knocking on a bit now, but they were all designed and built in Germany, there hadn't been a Vauxhall Design Studio for 6 years when the Mk II was launched in '86, and no completely Vauxhall Designed car (massive contention here we come... :y ) for 14 years. So why the use of imperial sizes? In fact the 'V-Cars' (Carlton, Viceroy, Royale) were the first range of designs without any (save all but the very lightest) Luton Input, and that was 1978.  8) Very odd...

Sooo... on a totally unrelated matter... can Carlton seats be fitted onto Omega seat frames - the square 'rig' which the sliders sit on...?
