There is an element of sanity with a sensible burnt out in racing, or drag racing.

I'd guess you know the logic behind drag racing, well that works with bikes as well in cold conditions. Not uncommon for bike racers to do a quick spin up just before the start to get some heat, and therefore grip in the tyre.

Beyond that..... Pointless  ::)

oh yeah..... get the tyres ''sticky'' so that you have more grip. F1 cars are told to do between 3 and 6 burnouts prior to the start to get heat in the tyres.

But, sorry what I should have said was...

the ones where young lads keep their everyday car still while the driven wheels burn out til the tyre explodes.

seriously am I missing something  ??? lol

Presumably because they lack a girlfriend to entertain in the evenings......
& probably unlikely able to get one.

Don't see the point in them, Wreck your tyres, clutch, transmission, engine etc.. For what? ... All to make some noise an smoke oh and not forgetting skid marks...  ::)

As I've mentioned awhile ago a main vx garage employe almost did a burnout in my car  :o

Fair enough for racing, drag strips, etc..

As another young member of the 'crew', here is my stance.

Burnouts 'prove' that you have so much POWAH that you can overcome the laws of FYSICS by being able to burst your SPENSIVE boots by dropping the clutch, Yo.

Just need a couple of BREDRIN to push back on the car and hold up the lowered SPENSHUN for it to work properly.

FAKT!
