Was wondering if you good people could help with the need for me to purchase a van for my new venture,
After much deliberation I have decided on a lwb Vivaro/Trafic/Primastar crewcab which will fulfil my needs, which is the better one to go for?
What are the problems to look for? Are the Renault's electrics made of cheese like the cars?
I have approx £5000 to spend which I know will get me a circa 100,000 mileage 54-58 plate,
Any engines to avoid? as it's the mechanicals that bother me the most.
Any help most appreciated, 
Oh, and STMO feel free to post your comments too

The only difference between the three makes are the badges. Renault supply all the parts and Vauxhall's Luton plant nail them together, Nissan supply funding

More than likely Zirk, but for my requirements it needs to be lwb and low roof, pretty much ruling out the Sprinter i'm afraid.

Water comes down window screen,over scuttle,sits in injector bowl on the head and causes,corrosion.
Well documented on bbc watchdog, there was a modification me thinks.

I would avoid Merc at all costs they rust like an old tin can, oh and are overrated. I drive vans all the time, have seen many 3 old Sprinters in London with rust patches .. I think DMF s in a van, are Daft idea, but hard to avoid these days as most Manufactures fit them in newer vehicles.
Can be costly to repair.. The van I currently drive, Ford Transit Custom. Cracking van  at least Ford thought about what a van should look like. What were they thinking when they designed the new Vivaro

Transit every time . I've had mine 10 years now and due to good regular cleaning and proper maintenance there's no rust anywhere and it just goes on and on. Simple(ish) mechanics that can be done at home and parts prices that won't break the bank . Mine's a MK6 but the 7 is a good comfortable van with a great selection of sizes available and there are lots of them out there .
