Traction Control
« on: 18 March 2015, 18:35:33 »

Have read all posts on T/c problems, mine seems to be slightly different.
If the car is left running in park, after about 5 seconds T/C light comes on.
Switch off and restart T/c light is cleared. If a gear is selected or even neutral the car drives with no problems.
If you park and leave to tick over T/C light comes on again.
Any ideas would be very appreciated

How does the speedo read.....?

Could just be something as simple as the ABS/Speed sensor on the N/S wheel needs replaceing...

It is a 3.2 Elite on an 02 plate. There are no other problems speedo etc all okay.
T/C light only comes on when ticking over and park is selected.  strange!

Could be a wiring issue between the engine, gearbox and ABS ecus...

Firstly any codes?

Secondly, clean the selector switch as per the guide.

Then... you're into wiring...

These are the only common wires...
Check the white wire from X86 pin 12 to the abs ecu pin 29, and auto box ecu pin 49.
Check the green wire from X86 pin 29 to the abs ecu pin 30, and the auto box ecu pin 50.

Does the S light come on if you press S in park? Does this affect the TC light?

Ok, sounds like an earth issue then...  Check the sport button loom for chaffing where the selector lever mounts to the tunnel :y

You need to read the codes in the TCM, as I suspect that's throwing a code that's causing CAN errors to appear on the ABS.

Of course, it could be the other way round, and the ABS throwing spurious CAN crap out that's throwing the TCM into a tizz

Thanks for all your advise. MOT,d today no problems.Had a good root around the gear selector area while on the ramp.
Friendly MOT man,no obvious dodgy earths etc.but not easy to see.I think your dodgy earth suggestion makes sense. As I said before T/C light only comes on when ticking over in park.Might just have to run with it (annoying)
