Sony Xperia Help
« on: 26 April 2015, 09:59:05 »

My Sony Xperia T keeps freezing.  >:(

The only way that I can free it is to take the back off and disconnect the battery for a while and then it's OK, the 'soft' reset (pressing power and volume buttons) dosn't free it.  I've also done a factory reset from the phone and reloaded the software from the Sony website which hasn't fixed it either and I'm out of ideas.....  :-\

I'm still under contract with Three until June so I guess I can throw it back at them, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.   ::)  In the meantime it's back to my 5 year old Nokia that works perfectly and holds a charge for a week!!  ;D

Just wondering if any of you clever chaps has any ideas!  ;)  TIA!  :y

Download the Sony Media Go / PC Companion, or what ever its called this week, do an update on that software, then do a Phone Back up / Check for Software updates etc, and see how you get on.

Ps. be carefull you dont brick it, by unplugging things or not waiting till its finished doing what it needs to do.

Yes I've done that which when it's working has improved the performance, but it's still freezing.  :(  If it was easy to pop the battery out I wouldn't be bothered but it's a screwdriver job.  ::)

Forgot to say in the OP that I've fitted a new battery as well.  :)

Dont suppose you have a back up, from either the original install or an earlier one?

Doing a reset only resets from the last updated version, so anything that got missed stays like that, doing another software update from a previous version gets the full banter so to speak.

I was going to suggest Battery, but youve already done that.  :-\

No I don't have any software backups.  :-[

I'll take it into 3 tomorrow, as I'm still in contract they have an obligation to fix it I'd have thought?  :-\

If it's still under warranty, they'll send it off to be looked at and provide you with a courtesy phone, if they have one. The last time my mate had to do this, they had it six weeks and it came back the same.

chances are if its not firmware related, then its probably a App youve installed miss behaving, try having a tidy up of unused apps. Also how much space left on the root drive, needs to bare minimum for the phone to work properly plus a bit more, move some Apps over to the Storage Card, especially the ones you dont use much.

Another thing to try after the App tidy up, is to try and boot the phone in safe mode and see how it behaves.
