Drill set.
« on: 07 May 2015, 14:51:39 »

I have just purchased a 15 piece Irwin drill set, HSS titanium.

Sizes range from 1.5mm to 10mm.

I'm informed this will also be fine for drilling wood.

Truth or boll*cks?

Always a preference to use wood bits as they have a different cutting face (reduces chipping as they are designed to cut through the wood grain), generally a centre point to aid location and often a deeper scroll (at the expense of strength which is not so important with wood) for removal of the drilled wood from the hole.

Sometimes standard drill bits tend to scorch the wood if you,re pushing too hard or the revs of the drill are too fast. :y
