Hi Mike,
We clean upholstery and once found a large bunch of keys tucked behind the rear, unzippable cushions of a sofa. These had been missing for 2 years, and the customer swore the suite had been taken apart umpteen times in the searches they made.
Things like this can also lodge in the gap between the arms and the base without actually falling through. Be careful when pushing your hand down, though. Staples and the like hurt when forced behind your nails.

PS. Have you checked under the car? Or between the seats and the centre console. (Or the ignition slot?)  :P :P
