battery powered timer relay for 240 volts, help wanted
« on: 02 October 2015, 11:05:21 »

I am looking for something to automate a neighbours solar powered well pump. At the moment one of my "jobs" is to switch it off at lunchtime and back on at around 5p.m. Ideally we need something powered by batteries that has a timer that can switch it on and off twice a day. The pump is one horsepower min, more likely to be two H.P.

Anyone know if such a thing exists?

At 2.p.m. I am helping another guy "fault" a valve stuck open on his network of pipes. That is battery operated on a timer and cost about £70!

Sounds like a perfect job for an arduino with a relay shield :y

That can cope with 8 amps  :y. More than adequate even if the pump is 2HP.

Do they come self contained . e.g. battery, timer and some sort of weather/rodent proof box? It will be inside a brick built housing with a metal lid so doesn't need to be waterproof.
