Header Tank Cap Woes... And Forte BioDegreaser
« on: 16 July 2008, 07:21:17 »

bugger bugger and thrice bugger

have been undertaking a coolant flush last couple of evenings. was putting the header tank cap back on and noticed it wasnt screwing in properly. the rubber seal on the inside had split. went to get my spare, guess what. the rubber seal split on that too.

being a one car household, mrs ilovemyelite can no longer get to work this morning. im supposed to be working from home but now ive got to haul ass around the place on the bus to get to a dealer this morning in the hope they have one in stock. then get the bus back, fit it and send her on her way. work is over an hour away too, so she is going to be very late today...

neither of us are particularly amused.  >:(

and on another note, i was chucking in some forte biodegreaser, and nothing had prepared me for that smell! its as if they squeezed a million jaffa oranges into the stuff, its lovely! maybe thats their secret ingredient?!

Citrous degreaser. . . nice.

What a BuGGa with the seal.  Ring round to see if they have one in stock, if not try your local spares shop, I have 3 locally and with a bit of cheek they will deliver, or at least maybe try and help out.

Hope you get it sorted matey.  Keep us informed.  :y

to make matters worse, i was putting some of the forte stuff in and didnt realise there was some plastic from the neck of the bottle that had broken off into the bottom during transit. so that went in the header tank too. when you put forte in the tank and it mixes with water it goes white like milk so as you can imagine i couldnt see it at all. so next thing i had to remove all the hoses and sensor and take off the header tank, give it a good clean and remove the plastic which was dead tricky!! got it in the end... at least the header tank is nice and clean now too hehehehe
