Fwd drive shaft play ?

Should there be any play on the front drive shafts  :-\ Im getting a slight grinding rotational noise when turning left on the front , checked for play in wheel bearing and no play in them at all and looks like new drive shafts have recently been fitted  :-\ Mazda 2.0 Premacy .

Yeah thats what i thought but its just a grinding noise , gets worse when slung into a corner  :-\

Then they explode into a mess of ball bearings and broken bits of cage. The flapping driveshaft tends to make a nasty clanking noise too.

A good few years back I needed a CV joint BOOT for SWMBO's Hyundai Lantra so I phoned the main dealership for a price. £30-odd !!!!  :o :o I'd recently bought the full CV joint, boot and sachet of molly grease for a MKII Cavalier for the same money at the local motorfactors  :y

I had a similar noise in a Morris 1100 in 1966. Changing the front wheel bearing seemed to cure it for a while, then it returned. It turned out to be the wheel bearing outer turning in the hub, the cure was to punch small dents in the hub to hold the bearing tighter.

Could be that  :-\ Ive done my best at the checks but handing it over to serek next week for him to have a look . I cant see anything thats causing it  :(

That was a common fix when i worked in engineering (centre lathe turner). turned a o/sized bore into a snug fit :y. Dot punch was a very handy tool. :D
