One final point.  I have had success in the past by physically unplugging the WiFi adaptor from the main board for a few seconds (with the laptop OFF, obviously).

They are usually found beneath a panel on the base of the laptop.  Usually very easy to access as they are 'generally speaking' interchangeable between laptops.  It's only the Antennae which are difficult to get at (behind the Display Panel, usually).

I still believe you are having a driver issue, though.

Ok, quickly built my old setup from an win7 image on to another drive via USB.

Switched off machine, pulled main battery, pulled Ram and pulled the HD drive out, switched back on, minus the bits and back off again (dont ask, I always do that if swapping OS on the same machine).

Put Ram back in, put win7 HD in, and switched back on, hoping to see the WiFi come to life in Win7, but alas, not paying attention Ive put the win10 HD back in by accident, but guess what!

I know how you feel.  The immense relief that the problem has gone away, but the even more immense frustration that you didn't know what the problem was in the first place.

Kick it.... hard.

Its been switched off, re started, re booted, cold booted, unplugged, etc, but to no avail, not sure but being booted with no ram or HD seem to give it a good kick up the rear end.

Talking about boots, just in case, have done a couple since, and its still fine.
