I only get 1Gb and I'm on 4g. I've got loads left at the end of the month, so I guess it's either down to your usage or apps running in the background. I'd run through your apps and delete/disable the ones you don't use.

When you upgrade or change Contract with Vodafone your first 3 months should be Unlimited  Data Test Drive ? (or should be). Another thing Voda do, is do a retroactive thing, on the first month, meaning it brings this months min, txt, and data back up to speed so it ends on the end on the month.

Ring 191 and get a unused allowance text sent, this will tell you what's used out of your allowance and confirm what your allowance is, just in case Voda have screwed up.

On 4G its desperately easy to eat through data fast.  I frequently get 40Mbps download - faster than a lot of people's home broadband - and could easily do a couple of Gb in an hour or 2 if I was downloading lots of large apps, or updating the phone's OS, or streaming video a lot.

My previous provider, NiffNaff, didn't offer 4G at the time, and being based on O2, the 3G was shockingly poor towards the end, so I never got near my 250Mb a month limit :o.  Even with 3Gb limit now on Evil Everywhere, I have to be mindful of what I'm doing to ensure I don't run out of data.

If you`re not doing anything different then you shouldn`t use more really, I`m on 4g and never go over my 1Gb limit but I only download apps and updates at home ( you can set updates to `only update over wifi`).

When I realised how much data I had left every month, I deliberately started making sure wifi was switched off. I'm paying for it, I'm gonna use it. I've been living in Yorkshire long enough to know about good value.  ;D

Changed my mobile phone and got sim card upgraded to 4g.

You don't say what you changed it to, but if you changed the phone then there is a big chance the settings are different and its using data without you realising.

Apple now has a setting that automatically goes to 4G when wifi is bit moody, also background app refresh and location sevices

Android also has similar things for app refresh and location services that use data.

I also turn email from fetch new mail to off on iPhone so its only when I manually open email it downloads, on my other Hemorrhoid phone that I use for work, email is set to check every 15 minutes between 630am and 6pm then hourly again to reduce data use
