mechanic needed
« on: 29 March 2016, 10:51:21 »

I have recently been let down by the guy who was to help me with a intake manifold cleaning job. so I am hoping I can find an oof member that will help me to get the job done. I understand its a days work, so whatever one may charge for a days wage is ok. I would probably need to bring the vehicle to whoever is doing the job as local authority are not allowing driveway repairs on cars.  so if there is any body in the York area (up to a hour & half drive ) & interested let me know. thankyou.

since posting this request my sons mate told me about a company he once used " CLICKMECHANIC " they supply a mechanic to come to a designated address & have set price on work undertaken which you select by ticking relevant boxes. also my sons mate has a lockup which I'm able to use. I thought the price is very reasonable., but a two hour slot to complete, not sure. anyway he,s arriving 8.10am tomorrow. so sorted

How did this load of Jobsworthyness come to pass then Ray?
I wonder if it would stand up in court if one invoked the ubiquitous human rights act?
God,its so hard to retain any respect for authority when some tw*ts can make decisions like this.

As long as you're not repairing cars on your drive for a living I really can't see how a council could enforce that. And what constitutes a repair? Is changing a lamp/bulb a repair?

was expecting a mechanic to appear to remove & clean intake manifold on my 2.2dti. I am beginning to think they must be a mechanics nightmare job as this guy never turned up. that's two now. this one was £35 ph, but estimated at most a two hour job. I suspect the "clickmechanic " who I contacted are a agency which like they all do put a client in promise land without actually having a specialised labour force in the area. I would have a go myself but are concerned about [a] not ever done one before & pressurising fuel system when its back together. I did my straight 6 td a few times, but that always started first time whatever I did. filter change etc.
