Omega Air Intake Addon
« on: 24 July 2008, 12:16:41 »

Does anyone have any Idea what this extra piece on the intake is from? It looks like it was made to go there but the hole looks to have been cut out!

I have a feeling that this is on a cadillac catera as the piping and fans don't look quite the same as mine!

No I have ordered a Pipercross Filter I am looking for any way to get more cool air to the filter! Thought this would help a little!

Definitely looks like it was made to go there -- no idea what it is tho!!!

The intake has probably been enlarged at some point in time -- hence the DIY appearance

What would you call it? I just can't find anything with google!!

I think to be honest I need to find someone who can make something like this from scratch!!

I also think if we can, there would be demand for it for people with Cone Filters!

I predicted so! But it shouldn't matter should it, It would help get more air through the intake pipe and keep the filter cool etc.

The uk one is mounted sideways so most of the direct air goes past the intake, The added bit is redirecting the air into the intake so there should be improved air flow!

know what you mean, the uk one faces to the side so it won't get any ram effect as car gets up to speed - if 'ram' really makes any difference ;)

Ah, the complexities of airflow.

Reality is it never does quite what you would think. The standard uk setup will get as good if not better am air effect.

The reason being that because the pickup is in front of the radiator then when traveling forward, a pocket of high pressure air builds up (the radiator obviously does restrict airflow) which will try to spill past the rad..... as it does it gets shoved into the air trumpet.
