Intermitant missfire/Loss of power
« on: 08 December 2016, 14:47:24 »

Hi folks, now and again I get a miss fire it only lasts for a second or two then clears happens randomly so is a bugger to diagnose. I have already changed the crankshaft sensor and now thinking it might be the mass airflow meter so have just ordered a new one to take it out of the equation. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this or if the MAF sensor is a know common problem. The old girl is a 2.2 Dti 2003 model by the way.
Thanks in advance

Ok an update , changed the MAF sensor but the fault is still there, strange thing is it only seem to happen when the engine is warm and mainly after I has parked up for a few minutes, and when at lower cruising speeds on light throttle.

Full throttle is fine and pulls like a train upto 95 mph so don't think it's fuel starvation.
Starting to do my head in now so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just hoping it's not a sign of the fuel pump failing.

Never, ever, ever randomly change parts in the hope it might help. It never does, and 99 times out of 100 clouds the issue.

You need to get some live data readings off it when it happens.

Aye you could be right but but seeming it happens infrequently and never brings the EML on I can see it costing a fortune in diagnostic labour time and I believe only a main dealer has the kit to read it. Have come to a point now where I not willing to waste any more cash or time on it I'm going to go back to my trusty Fords.
