The Rusty Doors Have Gone !

I've had the dreaded rust along the tops & a bit along parts of the bottoms of the doors on my Star Silver Miggy.

But today , after a few weeks of rubbing down ,treating , prepping & priming, all four doors were re-finished today. ;D ;D ;D ;D

How do they look?     Brilliant !  :y :y A local guy who sprays done me a huge favour, I prepped it all under his instruction & he turned up today to apply the basecoat  & lacquer.

I was intending to get some replacement doors & went & viewed a few but was dissapointed that all of them had either rust or some dent or paint damage. So after being introduced to this friend of a friend, decided to go with re-furbing my own ones.

Am very happy now & once the lacquer has hardened I will buff & polish  her up & start using her again. 8-) 8-) 8-)

I think we`ll have to have an OOF "How To" guide for rust bubble repairs (authored under the pseudonym: "Rusty Doors") ;)

The easy, but expensive :-?, route I took was to take it to a body shop & say 'Please mend that, & that, & that & that .......'  :y

You know I'm a computer "Numbskull"  :-[ :-[ :-[ I have no problem taking the pics - it's just that I would not know where to start about loading them onto the OOf site.

Have even had instructions from some of you guys on how to do it  - but I'm just not cut out to be an I T  whizz. :-[ :-[ :-[

So sorry no pictures available -- Yet !    but i will work on  it.

How much was that then ?

Mine cost me £45.00 for materials --  fella sprayed it for me for " A Drink"  -- Offered him £50.00  --he insisted on taking £20  - we settled on £30.00

But wait at least few weeks (according to glassurite site they say 2 months  :o)  for the paint to harden because polishing chemicals stop the hardening reaction..And if you use a machine stick  to the lowest rpms ..

Cheers for the advice -- I will only be polishing up the old paintwork for the time being.  The new stuff looks like a mirror :y

No need to rub it in!  :y

He did make a very good job of them. I'm going back soon & getting the bonnet done. Just need some overtime at work to soften the blow to the wallet.  ;)  :y
