I am travelling down to Hampshire next week, So I would like somebody to check this out for me. if I am driving about locally this doesn't happen  . I can travel along motorways doing any speed 70+ and the eml doesn,t appear as soon as I get into slow moving traffic it appears. limp mode tho engine will rev. then as I gather speed the limp mode is off ., usually the eml is 1/2minute after before that disappears. as long as I don't have to slow right down it runs ok. it seems to me its after lengthy quick speed journeys.  any ideas & is  there any tech 2 ,s in the Hampshire area . its a TDI

Same thing used to happen to one of my DTi's, never did cure it, DTC's were always P0400 and most of the vacuum pipes, all of the rubber elbows and the EGR was replaced along with various solenoids. In the end the Fuel Pump EDC died so never did find the answer

Before seeing VXLV6's reply, I was just about to say it smacks of EGR, even though probably not a genuine egr fault

Yep, be happy to put the Tech2 on it to gather some fault codes and live data, if you're passing my way, but I'm not that familiar with the dti.

I do believe that Bordon is not far from Alton. I would be only to pleased to for you to do a Tech2 job. I understand that egr are a common issue with the DTI . I will be driving down on wed 24th returning  home on sunday 28th. Friday is the day of the wedding but any other time to suit you. can I message you when I arrive & arrange for you to check it out for me
