Hi - I'm in the process of changing the engine oil. Does anyone know the official size of the sump plug tool - the star shaped socket tool; kinda like an allen key?

BTW does thus forum's posting system really need three proofs of "I'm not a robot ID?" - just sayin'

We do get rather a lot of spammers signing up, unfortunately. After you've made your first few posts (can't remember how many), it'll stop.

I believe its T45, but its worth getting a set, as like most modern cars, Torx is used extensively on the car...

That is a sign that the plug has been overtightened and the threads have been distorted

Every Vauxhall with this sump plug gets tighter the more you loosen it.

That's just in my experience. I assumed that was the design.

I have never experienced on any of the 3 migs I have owned a difficult to loosen s/plug . though I always renew them every oil change. at ecp they cost less than £3  so along with the filter I think in total it was just over £7.
