Engine Sump Plug removing tool
« on: 13 June 2017, 14:36:05 »

Hi - I'm in the process of changing the engine oil. Does anyone know the official size of the sump plug tool - the star shaped socket tool; kinda like an allen key?

BTW does thus forum's posting system really need three proofs of "I'm not a robot ID?" - just sayin'

Many thanks

We do get rather a lot of spammers signing up, unfortunately. After you've made your first few posts (can't remember how many), it'll stop. :y

I believe its T45, but its worth getting a set, as like most modern cars, Torx is used extensively on the car...

That is a sign that the plug has been overtightened and the threads have been distorted :(

Every Vauxhall with this sump plug gets tighter the more you loosen it.

That's just in my experience. I assumed that was the design.

Only in my experience of course 👍

I have never experienced on any of the 3 migs I have owned a difficult to loosen s/plug . though I always renew them every oil change. at ecp they cost less than £3  so along with the filter I think in total it was just over £7.
