Plug it in, as you say, is a valid way to test if the LCD is OK.  Granted, it might not show dead pixels etc, but they are rare on these.

You should get a myriad of messages etc, all in full colour.  An all white, all black, all grey or vertical lines, along with obvious screen corruption, will highlight a duff screen.

If you can, give it a gentle tap to see if that provokes a response from it, signifying a poor connection between the ribbon and the panel (this is the fault that causes them to fail)

hi, guy who can replace lcd said that software witch runs these lcd crashed. So he didn't replaced the screen. I have had these white screen for a while but today when i started my car the screen worked for 5 minutes like it was totally fine could it be some unsoldered connection? some kind of cabe short? It was like miracle It worked for the first time that i own this car
