'58 Corsa D 1.3cdti Q
« on: 23 July 2025, 22:51:05 »

Does the pedal trick work?

Looking at one for a mate, got an EGR cooler coolant pipe leak and an EML on.

Coolant leak should be easy enough to find, if not access to fix...

EML is apparently a pressure sensor, but need to try and identify which one.

Car on question has 161k on it so presume that it's seen something vaguely reassembling maintenance over the years.

It works ok on my daughters 2010 Corsa D (hers is petrol) so should be the same hopefully. On hers, it displays the error code as eml flashes, the same as an Omega. On earlier models it displays the code on the trip display. It reverts back to trip display quite quick so be prepared to do it several times if it's that type. Ignore the last 2 digits as well. My cheapy Autel MS509 hooks up to it easy as well and reads most engine data.  :y

If it doesn't, a ODBII should work and be sufficient as its engine related.

OBD2 did it ;)

Stored and pending EGR code 0400.

Also, when pressure tested, coolant spraying from the gearbox end of the block just below the exhaust manifold. Either failed thermostat housing or EGR gubbins but no clear view of the culprit.

Given the mileage and total lack of condition of the rest of the car, pulled the radio out and weighed it in.

Has the interior been a bit nicer or the bodywork a bit more painted then it might have been worth a bit more effort to get it sorted and put a fresh MOT on it.

Couple of hundred.

He paid £300 for it and took a few bits off it to sell on, so should end up ahead ;)

That's not bad. I've been offered as low as £80 for the Mondeo, I think 3 offered £120 and one more who offered £220 and they are picking it up next week.  :(

I put it on ebay. Spares or repairs, no reserve and it made £155, but the winning bidder didn't make contact.  ::)
