I contacted the Vx dealer, who had serviced my 2000 Omega 2.5 CDX for the previous owners, to check that they really had replaced the cam belt as stated in the Service book 23K miles ago.
Thank goodness they confirmed they had, so whilst on the phone I ran through what I plan to do soon engine wise, asking them for an estimate of the cost if they did the work.
For a full major service including,
all air, oil and pollen filters changed,
oil breathers fully cleaned,
new cam gaskets, then
full cam belt kit fitted, with
new water pump and
thermostate,
= £850!!!
I then explained that I held a TC, so they stated that I could buy the parts discounted and they would provide the labour which would give a
little reduction on the £850 estimate!
So, I think despite having a bit of reluctance about it, yet again in my life I will risk damaging my nails, put on my overalls, get my Haines Manual and OOF Cam changing DVD (to be purchased) at the ready and get stuck in!!

Will be going to the Vx dealer who also recognises my TC this week to order my shopping list of parts! 8-) 8-) 8-)
£850 indeed!!!!!

I have now reminded myself as to why I have been doing
all the work myself since my Company or ex stopped paying the bills!!

May very well join a cam belt party at some stage and then go to the WIM outfit!! 8-) 8-)
