Silly me
« on: 19 October 2008, 18:33:20 »

Yeaterday, I embarked upon changing the not-small-task of changing the heater matrix. But, somehow managed to break a rather vital part of the ignition/immobiliser system.

It's the bit that slides over the ign barrel - GM part no 09 118 300.

Basically, the ring that circles the barrel has got "damaged" and it turns out that there is a coil in there...which has broken. This now means that my car will turn over, but not fire.

I have put an post in the Wanted section, but what I really need to know is if there is anything else that I need as well as this? I presume that it is programmed to the key, so how can I get that done?

Any ideas? I'm having to go on my bike to work tomorrow AND IT'S GOING TO GET WET!!!  >:(

Well, I made it...and my bike did get wet.

Anyone got any thoughts on my problem? If I get a replacement part, is there any other "matching" parts that I need to get?

Sorry to hear about that. On the facelift, the keyreader is programmed to the ECU via Tech 2, and you then have to program the keys into the reader (or is it the ECU again?). I don't know if its the same for your model. It might be easier to get a complete set, ECU, Reader, and Key from a scrappy. If you do, try and get the VIN number so you can get a car pass from a dealer.
Best of luck,
Ken
