OOPS! Toys out of pram!

Oh, well. Sounds like it's his fault for not being honest about it in the first place. ;)

showe 65k . there is only one way to prove it. the old M.O.T
if there is no old MOT ... anything can happen day
to me looked more like 130k  b'use had only one company owner
they dont sell them when they re 65k .even  if it s true they never been look after

Do the 2.2's have a cambelt?  Pretty sure they're chain driven which might explain why no cambelt history.
Still sounds like a bad car & seller. Tell him to f..................! :o

Got a feeling that it was the transverse engine vx's that had the chain drive 2.2, I think omegas are all belt drive , but I could be wrong , it might depend on the year of the car .

Surely an engine's an engine regardless of how it's bolted in.
I'm no mechanic by any means but i'm sure the 2.2's chain driven.

if it s chain why the plastic cover is same size with cam belt engine?

if 2.2 is chain belt the front of engin should look biger not smaller than

my 2.0...

maybe im wrong

If it's got a plastic cover on the front it's belt drive , the chain drive engine looks totally different, and the cover is metal because the chain runs in oil.
I know the frontera 2.2 engines were belt drive because I've changed one that had thrown a rod , and I think all the omegas were too.
All the 2.2 Astras/Vectras I've seen have been chain drive. We've MOT'd about 50 of them and also come across a few where the chain has snapped.(very common problem which a lot of people think should be the subject of a recall)
Basically if they do do an omega with a chain drive 2.2 , don't buy it !!!

If you go on some other vx  forums you'll see tales of chains snapping without warning at very low mileages ' as little as 10k in some cases.

As far as I know the 2.2 belt drive is a bored out 2.0 lump so is generally fairly reliable.

A guy who runs a car sales pitch near us, brought a Jaguar 3.0 S type in and asked us if we could fit a cam belt and service the car for a better price than the main dealer had qouted him .(The person buying the car wanted it done at the main dealer)
Told him it would be a bit difficult seeing as it's a chain drive cam !!

Makes you wonder what Jaguar were quoting for , I think it was about £600 , which was presumably for a service and a serpentine belt.

Just goes to show even the trade fellers aren't that clued up.
