SWMBO's new car

well Mrs TMX wont have an omega its too big apparently!
but i have been offered a CDX astra G for a very good price only trouble is the PAS pump has died its got an electronic pump would it be easyish to replace?

sold the rover btw got £450 for it not bad i thought :y

According to My Haynes it involves removing the front subframe. :-? :-?

aye we sold hers for £450 as it had only got 80k on it and never ever had a headgasket! so its a good K Series engine! 1.4 aswell so it had cheapo tax!

front subframe! swmbo will be living without powersteering then!!

If you do drop the subframe, don't try to avoid undoing the bottom of the steering column ... like I did  ::)

I doubt she'll want to drive it much then. The 'fan belt' went on my Astra, which, for what ever reason knocks the power steering into touch, it was REALLY hard work driving it home.

Lol....yep, subframe off job.

Once its off its not so bad but removal requires support of the engine etc.

Matchless did one not long ago.

As for the aux belt (its not a bloody fan belt!) failing and knocking the power steering out, thats because the power steering eats loads of juice and hence when the alternator is not running its noticeable!

Dear ow dear....no belt driven pump on the Astra.....its a bloody great big electric motor!

4 spanner haynes job ill have to get James to give me a hand with this then :y

why SWMBO wont have an meega ill never know to big what an excuse!

I would think an electric steering pump is easier to vary the assistance with than it is with an engine driven pump like the Omega's  :-/

omega has proper steering system Recirculating ball no crappy racks or nothing :y just like a Mercedes Benz :y OLDER Merc from the early 90s!
