Agreed; I wonder how much the "optional software" costs though. :-/

Optional PCMSCAN OBD2 Diagnostics Software  (Add $99.95)

Other software may work?

I think this version of TIS they go on about is their own version, I can't see GM licensing out a version for them.

Apart from the real deal Tech II, I bet Opelscan is far better, it's read every system on all the VX's i've tried it on (with the exception of the NCDR Head Units and CID's).

That is not Tech2/TIS, that is a generic OBD2 setup.  The added bit is that it is J2534, which is a generic standard in the US for independent shops.  You still have to pay GM a monthly subscription to run Tech2/TIS on that machine, but you don't have to buy the actual Tech2.

(12mps) USB 2.0 performance

.. right up to the OBD connector where it drops to 10kbps.  ;D

Looks like OBDII to me, so maybe not any use for pre-2.2/2.6/3.2 Omegas.  :-/

TIS has (limited) ability for passthrough programming for SPS programmed systems (ie, engine, gearbox firmwares) - I wonder if this is how they are achieving the TIS programming stuff?  If so, missing out on programming of other stuff.
