Waiting's a pain in the........
« on: 12 November 2008, 21:35:29 »

Remember last week, I had a phone interview, and got lots of helpful advice from the forum. Well, I was told on Friday that I got the job.  :y
This was great news, cause my job at the laptop repair Co, finished rather suddenly, and the old bank manager started circling etc. And the money was great, several times what I was on. Only thing was it was in Northen Ireland, and was for 5 months. So I started getting things organised, getting dentist and doctor sorted out, paper work all done, Miggy serviced etc. Only thing is supposedly they haven't got the purchase order signed yet, so I don't really have the job, or do I?. The agency has phoned up each day telling me how many emails and phone calls he has made, but still no confirmation. And here I am waiting for the phone call. I am finding it hard to concentrate on doing anything else. :'( :'( :'(

As a contractor I never stop looking until I have the signed contract in my hand, and then start looking for the next job.
There are to many things that can go wrong like the present ecconomic situation causing the company to have second thoughts.
So keep looking and be hopeful
Good luck :y

Its the "do I apply for other jobs at the same time, and risk having several come thro at once". Sod it, they want me to start on Monday coming. If they haven't told me by Thurs, there is no way I am going to start trying to book ferry's, accomodation etc at that short notice.

Not a good time workwise. I know a few people from blue & white collar backgrounds who've been laid off after years on good money & careers, totally unexpected. I'm relatively safe as trucking covers many trades & industries so i'll always get by but i sympathise with others who've worked harder towards thier careers than i have only to get the dreaded letter or email. :(
