Just to clarify, the working time directive has never covered paid overtime for example if you do 5 hours overtime and paid for it then that is up to you. The 48 hour week max is to cover normal working hours for your normal salary.

It does not stop you doing paid overtime.

No normal salary or overtime. I'm paid a flat hourly rate regardless.
  If i still wanted to be a family man losing the family home would be a lot more stressfull to all concerned than putting a few extra hours in to balance the books, put a roof over thier heads & food on the table.
   Infinate wisdom my arse. Why do certain condescending folk think they know better?
  Do i tell veggies to eat meat?
  Do i tell non smokers to take the mucky habit up?  NO. I don't. I leave folk to decide for themselves so it would be nice to be afforded the same privilege if that's not too much to ask.
