hello every one im back agine lol

here is the story of bmw e 38 after market tail lights

just got one last night and try them they just fine and no warnig note in dash board but my mother s neighbour has e38 and he saw my car and stoped and said be carefull

some people put thier car in fire with these after market tail b'use the wier get hot and bolw   the only reason i changed them is b'use i use to have water leak

in tail light in a bad way... i put them on and turn the lights ON and leave it for 10 min and nothing bad happen and the wier didnt get hot at all  

what should i do ? am i safe ?

You might be better asking on the BMW forum, if there is one. As far as I know there arn't any after market lights for the Omega so it would be difficult to comment.

Some after market LED conversions have been known to be dodgy. Heard a few horror stories.

they re not LED . they re normal bulb 12v same as the orginal one.
the only  reason i came here it s b'use it s electrical things
i heard if something is wrong it would show sudenly it can blow or be
smelly or get hot is that true??  but i took them for drive 10 mile

if there is one car you can get million information about it form internet is OMEGA b'use of this forum. there no other place like here
but e38.org is there and very good but it s nt omega owners forum

I would be tempted to measure he current in the wiring when operating if thats the case.

Did he say if its the wiring or the light unit that fails (I guess if its a good fire then it will be difficult to tell) as some of these cheaper units have simple bits of bent metal sprung contacts.....

but there is a clip it conect the light with the car wier
if they get hot then that s danger warning . if he  was right and there is a lot of cheap stuff in market the Q is

this happen straight away after you conect the wier??

if it was ok after 20 min with any problem that mean it s ok ??

Possibly not.

If there was to be a problem then assuming you have the same wattage bulbs the only real place you could get issues is in the contact on the cluster.

The thing is that the contacts will be little more than bits of bent plated steel. If the plating is poor or not ideal then over time you could get galvanic corrosion which will increase the resistance resulting in losses and heating (I2R).

So, its still possible that over time a fault occurs.....just keep an eye on it
