Another barsteward oil filter
« on: 28 December 2008, 21:42:36 »

I serviced and cambelt'd a Facelift V6 in Northants today....

Guess what - came to remove the oil filter, and - whole thing just spun, and loosened on the block.

Thankfully I learnt from the last time and came prepared - it took about 30 minutes to fix, a lot less than last time!

Wrapping a chain wrench around the housing, while using a 24mm socket on the cap, seems to work really well, there is just enough access.

Interestingly I thought all the housings were held to the block with 12mm alan key bolts - this one was a 27mm hex fitting.

Learn something new every day  8-)

I was considering popping in and persuading TB to make me a cuppa, as I stopped at the Brackley BP for petrol (chimps) - but I didin't know if he was in, and wanted to get back to walesshire asap.
