As some of you may be aware my brother in law killed his engine and it fell on me to do repairs,
well i fitted the donor engine today  which came from a guy on feebay ,,, please bear in mind i had not heard the engine run and apparently it had been sat in their yard for approx two months,
i connected the battery turned the key and it fired and run first turn and is a sweet little engine (result) even more of a result is there was no eml and the temp gauge now works

Did you (or do you plan to) do cambelt kit, oil change, and plug change? Most important things you can do, alongside breather clean

all done , apparently it had only done 85,000 miles but i told the brother in law i needed the parts as we had no history

i did make a slight little boo boo which caused me a little more work though

in my haste i thought i would turn the engine over to check everything  was connected ok ( not expecting it to start straight away) i forgot to connect the two pipes to the rad that  come from the auto box that carries the transmission fluid  to the rad and hey presto auto transmission fluid everywhere

  At least it was ATF and not hypoid! You'd be smelling like cat pee for weeks if it was

if it smells anything like the oil used in the self levelling shocks i know what you mean,
