Just had my first crash...not a happy chappy
« on: 10 January 2009, 17:58:35 »

hi all, this is my first time back to the forum for a while and im returning of a very sore note. The omega got very intimate with a ford galaxy... and the omega lost  :-[

to day at about 4 o'clock i headed out the the local tesco. just as i was leaving my village the driver who was in the opposite lane made a right hand turn across my lane into his driveway without looking, causing me so slam on the breaks and clipped the rear left of his car.

my car suffered...smashed light, cracked fog light, bumper hanging off, bent bonnet, and most impressive - ripped a chunk out the wing  :y

Fortunately, most of the insurance companies have wised up to the Whiplash 'dangle berries'.  Good job to.

While I agree there are loads who jump on the whiplash band wagon, a few years back my brother was quite ill due to the effects of whiplash in a rear end shunt. A few days after the bump he went to the Docs feeling unwell, never even considered the crash. The Doc said his symptoms were classic whiplash effects!

For those who have it, tis not nice at all, but far too many do play it on.

I was lucky and had private medical when I was hit, bit of prompt physio sorted it out  :y

Mrs TB had it about 20yrs ago.  Managed to give up the chiropractor about 3 or 4 years ago...   ...so, yes, real whiplash is not nice.  People who falsely claim it are effing selfish idiots  >:(

I know exactly what you mean.  I had a small biff about 18 months ago.  A Learner tapped the back of my car.  Pushed his bonnet and slam panel back and just scratched my bumper.  He was almost crying as I spoke to his dad but as it was just bumper I decided not to do anything about it.  When I told everyone at work the next day, all I got was CLAIM WHIPLASH!!!!  It really pissed me off.

The accident I had that did go through insurance led to me being contacted on numerous occasions to have a medical assessment and claim forms kept getting sent to my house.  Had to tell them where to go.

At the end of the day it is things like whiplash that make our insurance so expensive, so the last thing I'd do is make a bogus claim.  I bet it makes genuine claims harder to submit too.
