MOT Day....And an admission about Diesel
« on: 15 January 2009, 09:55:00 »

Wish me luck..Jag gone for pamper day ( service & MOT)  :y

Had an EML on for 4 months - diagnosed then as lambda sensor, outwith that im hoping for a hassle free test ( done 3000miles since last mot)

...And i have a courtey car till tomorrow - free of charge.

Brand new Jag Diesel 2.2 Sport its phenomenally quick especially in third gear :-/ :o

6 speed manual box with leather, cruise and 18" wheels - its only done a thousand or so miles.

Just over 1000rpm at 60mph in 6th gear.

Yep if this is the diesel standard now.....I`d considor buying one  :y

Try the new XF 3lt diesel thats coming out in march.  0-60 in under 6 seconds apparently!  And something like 500N torque :o

The 2.7 I have does it in around 8 secs traction permitting  ;D

I've always said I'd never buy a diesel Jag, but after having seen Clarkson drive 600 miles or whatever it was, in the XJ-D on one tank, I must say I was swayed slightly!

When we fret over the MOT outcome, is it our cars we worry about, or our wallets? ::)

I`m seriously tempted with the XF, I also probably left paw marks on the pre registered xj supercharged sitting in the showroom  :-*

Jeez if it was legal i`d marry that car  ::)

And the results are in........

Failed but passed. Needs one tyre ( its got a gouge on the sidewall due to the nice building company building new houses at the end of the road) I knew about it but kept ssssshhhh.

To make that more annoying i have 3 of 4 18" jag alloys in the Garage, need a 4th and then i`ll be buying NEW TYRES grrrrrr >:(

No advisories, EML off by diagnostics machine and its stayed off....( no charge)

All in all pretty happy  :)

I would too and mentioned that fact in front of the not-too-bothered-about-cars wife in the Jag showroom  "Well that makes 2 of us" she said! pmsl  ;D ;D ;D

Diesels have come on a long way in recent years, at work I have used a Discovery 3 2.7 V6 Auto TDSE for the last 3 days, mixed running, 600 miles in total, trip computer read 30.5 mpg. Knock 10% off that for inaccuracy and 27 mpg out of one of those is quite impressive. Most economical family sized car i have used recently, 2.0 TDI Passat, a very impressive 52 mpg, again mixed running with a 150 mile trip to Blackpool thrown in.
