Eeejit.....
« on: 15 January 2009, 11:47:03 »

Me, that is...

Was out with some friends last night in Edinburgh doing a treasure hunt type thing in the car.  Stopped at one location, rain was now tipping down, so got out, put the mobile on the car roof whilst I put my coat on.

Guess the rest......

Done the treasure hunt bit, drove off then, on arrival at next stop, got out and was looking for my phone.

Yup, left on the roof when I drove off from the last place.  Went back and 6 of us had a good look in the p!ss!ng rain but no sign.  Phone goes straight to ansa.

Contacted provider and sim and phone now fried but, with luck, its been flattened by a waggon.  Its the loss of tele numbers thats the real bugger.....  Still some on there from my 'work'.....   :-[

Phone is now out of contract so provider will supply replacement sim only.....   :P

Current provider is Virgin.  They were trying to sell me a new phone last night when I was doing the sim/phone blocking.

Apparently I have about £70 of street smarts with them to purchase another phone but, in all honesty, its time to look for a new enticement elsewhere as theirnetwork coverage across here, particular along the East Neuk of Fife, is quite pants.....  :P

Mate of mine did something similiar a few years ago.  We were on a bus back from playing a football match late one evening when it stopped on a country road so everyone could go have a pee.  Of course my mate lost his phone at that spot.

So the next morning I drove back out to that spot with a couple of mate's and drove up and down the road slowly while ringing the number of the lost phone to see if we could hear it.  (We could not remember exactly where the bus stopped the previous evening). We must have gone up and down the same patch of road about 10 times when a police car pulled up.

The neighbours across the road thought we were acting suspiciously and called them!  Once they checked out the car and knew we were genuine they let us off obviously.

And we found the phone too!

2 weeks ago my sim card decided to loose all the numbers ..

Within 2 weeks I was only able to collect 20-25 of them..

So can understand what you feel.. :(

not much can be done i suppose if you've left it out in the rain!! I passed a car pulling out of a supermeerkat yesterday, a battered corsa with 2 kids in the front, and a carton of milk on the roof  ::)

After a similar loss of phone, I now do the same. Have been doing it for years now, saves all the agro. But remember, save the numbers to the sim (unless you have thousands) it just makes it easier when you change or upgrade. All fones these days come with software and a USB lead, 'tis easy.

Never upgrade -- still have my old Nokia 6310 .... mind you one of the girls in the office came in with a new Blackberry -- I was tempted ... but it would mean spending more money -- hate doing that !!!!!
