Does there have to be someone mentioned in person to make it wrong to crack jokes about Alzheimers (or any illness or situation involving pain and suffering).

My father was diagnosed 3 years ago and believe me, when some doctors call it the "living bereavement", they're not far off the mark.

Leave the jokes Woss, you're not clever enough.  Your a chat show host. You depend on your guests. Ask the question then shut up whilst they answer.

Woss - Guests = One bumbling fool
Sorry about your dad condition, it is not a condition i want to encounter/experience.

To answer your question , Yes otherwise joke telling stops . now.
anyone and everyone can be upset about any joke

There is a good article on the Beeb about the language of comedians, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7848131.stm

NOTE: what i find funny can upset people - if its funny i will laugh no matter  what group is targeted - as long as the targeting is relevant for comedic effect
Hence why i don't post many jokes

Yet again he is being hounded by the press, now they have upset the family of the old dear - he NEVER mentioned her by name or contacted. the press have yet again thrown oil on the fire, by working out who it was and tracking her family down and upsetting them just for a F$%^ING quote to sell their $H1TTy rag - those bastards should hang

Sounds like you approve .. :( .. ok  you have the right ... but I think he is a complete idiot ... and even if the story was a complete lie .. it does NOT come under the heading "Entertainment" .. which is what he is supposed to be paid to do.

No worries matey, that was in response to the pathetic statement issued by The Fool to the News of the World.

No, I don't approve of his comments or of him as a comedian but the principle at stake of  'freedom of speech' is at risk.
And it is being corroded by journalists  writer's who are happy to be moralistic in a paper that shows some teenager's nellies on page 3 >:(

Contractural obligations are an issue here. It's as much the beebs fault for fawning over this pillock in the first place. He's little more than a gobshite & his own biggest fan. He does'nt posess the talent or presense to season gracefully like Wogan or Forsythe.
He'll dissapear up his own a##e soon....sorry, fade into obscurity. ::)

P.S. I was'nt really offended at the prank he & Brand made albiet a little edgy but whether he realizes it or not his appeal is becoming outdated.

I think Woss should be made to watch every interview Parky ever conducted,he might get the idea then,Ask an interesting question and then sit back and let the guest unwittingly bare their soul. the guest was always the star, not the interviewer. :y

Have to agree with Big AL about the press stirring it up. Used to like wossy (never have liked Brandt, hes just a talentless, unfunny tw*t), but seems hes getting a bit desperate now and, as with the £108m kaka, in the current climate, his wages seem a bit obscene. You do have to put things into perspective tho, I mean how many of us havent laughed at a few "sick" jokes whether it be about michael jackson/garry glitter/the disabled or whatever . This sort of black humour is a kind of way of dealing with stuff and is not meant to be offensive, although it may be taken by some as offensive. Personal attacks on individuals for no good reason however are out of order. Sachs granddaughter? Fine, have a pop at her for her actions but what has Sachs got to do with her behaviour?

Exactly   :y :y

also
If I hadn't seen it in print I too would have spelt Mainwaring as it is pronounced, ie Mannering.  I don't think any one took it as critisisim

Methinks that description fits Ross pretty accurately too.
