BT Home Hub on BT Business broadband?
« on: 23 February 2009, 19:59:11 »

Q for any BT bods:
My elderly farming-neigbours have a BT 'business telephone line' in their house; I`ve been trying to order them BT total broadband online to get the free home hub/3 month discount etc.....We are in "Market 1" hereabouts (so, no LLU competition) I`ve discovered that only BT business-broadband is available to business `phone line customers and that`s at £15 pcm +VAT and no discounts or free hub etc. :(

The BT business-hub router is £79 +VAT!  :o .....but, I have an old/spare 1.5 BT home hub going spare here: would it work with the business broadband; `its only an ethernet/WiFi router after all. ::)

Should work.  Why don't they just get consumer broadband?

Do you mean Tiscali/Eclipse/Plusnet/O2 etc., selling B.T Wholesale product?.....I have checked, but they all say no service possible on that line/postcode......only seems to return B.T (at a suggested 6 MB) on the BB finder services.:-?

They don`t have Broadband at all yet; just a business ph. line....B.T wont sell them (discounted) domestic BB, only the expensive business BB.
B.T seems to be the sole ISP hereabouts. :-/

Thanks Jaime, I`ll abandon online BB costing efforts (which have seemed to reject the line as 'non-residential') and give some 'Consumer' ISP`s a call tomorrow and try and get some cost quotations from their telesales.

IIRC we used to have consumer broadband at work on a business line. That would have been with Vispa IIRC.
