I love OOF!

In brief my 2.5 petrol has had no heating for 5 months then it failed mot, a few garages have looked at it and told me its not worth fixing. Wasnt beaten so bought an older tractor to run around in while I try to fix it in stages. Old tractor ( syd ) may have 12 months mot but needs some tlc !
I have just been reading in Technical and had a quick look at the fuse box. I found the fuse for heating etc but it wasnt until I read that also does the power steering. Thats 1 of the things the car failed on Mot.

Ran outside with my laptop, snatched the right fuse out of Syd dived in Pete ( petrol ) and swapped the fuse, held my breath and turned the key. And yes you got it the heater works ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I cant believe I struggled through all that snow just because of a fuse. Feel very stupid but cant believe the garages didnt pick it up. So happy I never paid the first one lots of money to fix a problem that wasnt there.

So thank you OOF youve made  my day, week, month :-*

You sound very happy!

Amazing how incopetant some garages seem to be!

I was  >:( at first but now Im just  ;D it wasnt funny at the time using microwave bean bags to keep the kids warm and using deicer inside the car in the freezing fog. Not to mention nearly putting Pete on ebay  for £50 as spare/repair. But as it was the first thing I have ever fixed on a car im like a cat that got the mouse :D or is that cream? Just a very big/expensive  lesson and now Ive got Syd for no reason.

You'll get better the more you learn about these things... and try more alternative repairs
