Dumb green idea No. 343
« on: 24 June 2009, 16:01:55 »

"Only in Califorinia can an alternative-energy project that could cause earthquakes get green-lighted in an earthquake-prone area, while solar projects in the desert get held up for environmental reasons."

Well they are trying to save the world Nick ;D ;D ;D.

Perhaps they're trying to justify rolling out all these questionable schemes by citing the benefit to the environment, whilst secretly rubbing their hands in glee at the tremendous amount of money they think they'll make from it -  or am I being a tad too cynical :-/ :-/ :-/ ( which is quite unlike me I must say? )

Well I think it is some crazy (Arnie??) idea to rid the world of wacky California to cut down carbon omissions ;D ;D ;D ;D.  Is it that state that uses enough power in silicon valley to keep the UK going after all? ::) ::) :D :D ;)

national review is nothing more than a republican mouthpiece, hence it has a massively skewed opinion - you may as well read the Daily Mail for news (and no-one does that, surely?!) ;D

having said that, triggering a huge earthquake might have the added benefit of destroying california - so really - whats the downside?

I have to say that this "What do you expect from a right-wing publication" phrase a bit silly, to be honest. It's either scientifically true or it's not. In this case, the piece was actually lifted from the New York Times. Political opinion won't alter the fact that there appears to be a risk that this deep hole could cause seismic activity.

So, its nothing to do with right-wing or left-wing. I would have linked to the story even if it appeared in the Morning Star - nay, even the Daily Mail.  ;)
