Does anybody know who ships goods from the USA to the UK. I want to buy a piece of test equipment, that weighs about 80lbs, and UPS, USPS prices are around $480    In fact it would be considerable cheaper if he cut in in half and sent it in 2 boxes, around $270.

If you google for USA to UK shipper, you get lots of replies, but when you investigate, they either only do UK to USA, or the weight is very small. What's going on ?

It should also be cheaper if you do Depot to Depot, rather than having it picked one end and delivered to an address the other.

do you need it asap? There are alternatives that use ships and float it across the water, think they are lot cheaper, but take a lot longer!

Hi - I do logistics for a living and USA into UK is fairly straight forward - just google "freight forwarders" and you should be able to find one at an airport local to you that will help you - just be aware that someone will have to pay the import duty on the item and the rate varies according to what it is and what it will be used for, commonly known as the "end use" (the freight forwarder again will have a far great understanding of these customs clearance issues) by the sound of it your going to be liable for all shipping and duties costs so just be aware as that can add up to a considerable sum.

You can discuss air freight on consolidation with the FF or you can also ask them about sending it by sea which is about 3 weeks from port to port.

I hope that helps slightly, just call a few local FF's and ask to speak to Imports and see what quotes you get.

Thanks for that, I will google that and see what I can find. I don't mind import duties, cause the total price is usually cheaper than buying it in the UK. I don't mind it taking a couple weeks to get here if the price is right. It currently looks as if it will cost more to ship it than buy it !. What a crazy world

Hmm looks not bad, I can't get any prices for USA to UK, but shipping the parcel from the UK to the USA I can get door to door for £108 which is very respectable.

Also most Customs / Duty can be avoided by declaring that the item is a Service Replacement and once fitted the faulty item is to be sent back as replacement, if it  helps.
