vulcan bomer ground at RNAS Yeovilton!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 12 July 2009, 09:31:21 »

well i went to our airshow yesterday had to pay. i only went for one reason to see one of my fav aircrafts fly.

well it was the worst airshow i have ever been too. and then 5 mins before the vulcan was due to fly the announcement came. Due to hydraulic failure she will not be flying. the amount of people that left in discust after this pipe was unbeliveable.

personally i know from experiance that mechanical failure can happen at any time but this with the fact that half of the displays didnt happen just made it al the worst and £29 for me and my son to go was discusting!!!!!

oh well lets see when she launches cant see it being today as the airfeild is only open between 10 and 12 to let all the aircraft leave and i cant see them having the part here buy then nd the aircraft fixed intime so looks like i might get to go and take some pictures of here on the deck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Marie
I can imagine your disappointment, XH558 is drawing the crowds but unfortunately, for one reason or another, not coming up with the goods. I was at waddington last week and had a similar disappointment, and it has to be said that without it the rest of the show was a bit ordinary. The prices are going up, and although I'm more than happy to support the benevolent funds, there is a balance.
Oh - congrats on the exams etc, it must be hard work getting to your level, and you don't always get the recognition your hard work deserves.

Good to hear from you, Marie.

I was hoping to see XH558 at Lasham yesterday. Don't know what the weather was like at Yeovilton but here the cloud base was about 200 feet so no chance even if it hadn't been u/s.  :(

Yaay !!  :y  Welcome back Marie, and congrats on the success  :y :y

If you get any pics of XH558 while she id "visiting" Yeovilton, please post them up here for all to enjoy.

I know her season has been more than a little disappointing so far, due to admin mess-ups as well as mechanical failure .... but, on the mech side, remember, she is a old gal these days ..... things do tend to drop off when you get on in years  ::) ::)

yep old she is but so are my seakings but i still manage to get them back in the air.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

the problem with the vulcan is the fact they dont have the spare parts available without robbing them from another aircraft ( which there arnt many of them left for you to do that from) or have them made which takes time.

As for pictures i am sure that if she is still there when i next go into work i will gladly post them up. the ultimate opicture for me would be her above my house cos i am on the flight path.

got to watch most of the aircraft leave today at 10am and she wasnt one of them so i think she will most likely leave tomorrow!! ill get my hubby to let me know if she does.

She leaves on Friday at around 12.00.

The problem was related to a brake hydraulic circuit which they fixed quite quickly but, the weather had deteriorated preventing display.

I was at the Biggin Hill show a couple of weeks ago on the Sunday.I really only went to see the Vulcan in particular,it was up flying on the Saturday but failed to show on Sunday due to 'mechanical' probs we were all gutted and many went home.Though i have to say we had the Virgin 747 with the  red arrows in formation which otherwise stole the show.
