They also have them between Dundonald/Newtownards and down near Newry,not sure exactly how far apart.I think it does vary from one location to another,possibly for the reasons you suggest. :-/

normal average speed cameras are easy to beat. just change lanes as you pass 1 then change lanes again as you pass the next and so on and so on. simples  :y :y

theyre called SPECS they work on average speed and theyre mainly used on motorways they work on average speed and if your done by one you just get the standard £60 3 points  aslong as your driving under 100mph over 100 and its off to the magistrates for you!

Motorcycles arent exempt! i go down the M42 alot and there is SPECS on there too anyway there are cameras pointing toward for cars and cameras pointing behind for bikes!

They have these 'Average' speed cameras on the A1 near Leeming in the Roadworks, where they are turning it into another stretch of the A1M.

Big yellow gantries at the start and end of the roadworks.  I simply hit the speed limiter at 50 mph and just stick to the limit... :)
